For sale here is a knit cotton sweater from Undercover. This one comes from the fall-winter 2016 collection. Undercover is perhaps best known for their high quality designs, combined with a very strong graphic sensibility and punk rock ethos. This sweater is a great example of both Undercover’s strong graphic sense and high quality design.
The material here is a knit cotton, with the main fabric in a solid gray. The twist comes with the incorporation of darted fabric throughout the sweater. It makes for a pattern that is actually very complicated, where the pattern had to be made to incorporate the different pieces of darting (essentially a larger pattern in a strange shape when unsewn), and the darting had to be done to give the sweater a uniform fit. It is a pretty crazy design feat and this sweater is actually one of the iconic pieces from the 2016aw collection. It is understated but at the same time if you have any knowledge of clothing construction you can see that the implementation was actually really crazy.
Aside from the very complicated pattern and darting, details include a ribbed crewneck, cuffs and waistband, side pockets are semi-hidden in the side seams, neckline has a woven tag and there is a subtle branding stamp on the rear neckline. These sweaters retailed at around $500 in Japan and even more abroad. They’re now long gone as well, but get it here at a fraction of the retail.
Size is a rare 4 and the fits between a medium and a large. I measure the chest at 21” / 53cm, shoulders are raglan and approx. 17” / 45cm, length at 26” / 67cm and sleeves at approx. 26” / 66cm from the shoulder. The sweater comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $26.
