Beams Plus + plaid button down shirt, made in Japan, size M

$34.99

Up for sale here is a plaid button down shirt from the Beams Plus label. Beams Plus is one of several labels run by the Beams company, mainly a “select shop” operating out of Japan. Where Beams was previously more a shop for other brands, they’ve been getting increasingly into clothes production as well, with Beams Plus being one of their major offshoots. There are a number of other sub-labels such as Beams Heart, Beams Boy, International Gallery Beams, bpr Beams, Fennica, Beams Golf, etc. However, Beams Plus is perhaps their best known outside of Japan, and their only label (to my knowledge) to have distribution abroad.

Beams Plus tends to steer pretty strongly toward vintage-inspired work and casual wear, producing at a very high level of quality. Designs are pretty timeless, where they avoid flashy colors and big logos, opting more for quality construction and fits.
That’s what you’ve got with this shirt too. Design is definitely classic, with a brown, black and white plaid pattern. This isn’t a printed fabric like some cheaper labels may go for- no corners are cut here. Making woven shirts like this is actually much more time consuming and expensive, but you can see and feel the difference in quality.

There are a number of subtle details as well. Buttons are all stamped, shirt has side gussets with “+” mark embroidered on the sides, three button collar (including rear button), rear tab and chest pocket. Overall you’ve got a nice 60s style button down, versatile in that it can easily be dressed up or down as the occasion demands. Retail is about $150 on these. Get it here for much less.

Size is labeled a medium and fits true if a bit slim. I measure the chest at 20” / 50cm, shoulders at 17.5” / 44cm, length at 26.5” / 68 in the front and 28.5” / 72cm in the back, both from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24.5” / 62cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
