Up for sale here is a pair of pants from the Cat’s Paw label, part of the family of labels run by Toyo Enterprise (others include Sugar Cane, Buzz Rickson, Tailor Toyo, Mister Freedom and others). Each label has their own particular focus, and Cat’s Paw is very much on classic workwear. They build all of their pieces tough and very much made to last. Cat’s Paw is also somewhat unique in that they primarily manufacture in China. The quality of the tailoring and materials is in no way sacrificed, but they are able to pass on the savings in manufacturing to their customers, where Cat’s Paw pieces are often cheaper than other Toyo lines.
Silhouette and details here are very much based on classic cotton/poly work chinos. The material is really excellent, coming in a nicely textured 60% cotton, 40% polyester blend. Fabric is medium weight in my opinion, not super light or super heavy, and definitely built with resilience in mind. These should be able to take a beating real well. This is a straight leg fit, aiming for a classic look. They’re neither especially loose or tight, but fit nicely right in the middle. Details include really cool art deco style buttons on the waistband and rear pocket, zip fly, and custom fabric lining the waistband.
As usual, quality is up to the same levels you would expect from other Toyo Enterprise labels. Cat’s Paw runs a bit cheaper than some of the other Toyo labels as noted, where these run at about $200 outside of Japan if you can find them. Get a pair here at an even better price.
Size is labeled a 32 and fits true. I measure the waist at 32”/ 83cm, rise at 11” / 28cm, inseam at 31.5” / 80cm (note that these have not been hemmed), and opening at the bottom of the leg at 8.5” / 21cm. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
