For sale here is a jacket the Japan Blue Jeans label. Japan Blue is one of the lines manufactured by Rampuya, the same company that does the Momotaro label. Both labels are very strongly jeans and indigo oriented, producing exclusively in the Kojima area of Japan, although the Momotaro label is probably more widely known and releases a fuller range. Japan Blue focuses pretty strongly on jeans and denim jackets, but the same high quality production standards are still very much there, as are the really detailed and unique fabrics.
This is a pretty interesting take on the classic Harrington jacket from Japan Blue. Silhouette follows the Harrington pretty closely but there are some unique details incorporated. For one, fabric here is a 52% cotton, 48% nylon blend. The cotton/nylon makes the exterior something like a windbreaker, giving it more resilience and weather protection compared to a more typical cotton jacket. The jacket is also fully lined in a striped cotton fabric. Between the exterior and the lining I would consider this a medium weight jacket, good for fall-winter-spring wear depending on the weather. Collar can be worn fully buttoned up or folded down, and there is a large double zip down the front. Buttons are all vintage style woven leather. Shoulders are raglan and rear includes an elasticated waistband to ensure a good fit.
As with all of Japan Blue’s products, the quality here is excellent and no corners are cut in any way. The jacket is made to take a beating and will only get better with age. This is a timeless design that is difficult to come by outside of Japan, especially at this price.
Size is labeled a medium and fits somewhat relaxed. I measure the chest at 21.5” / 54cm, shoulders at approx. 18” / 46cm (they are raglan and hard to get exactly right), length at 26.5” / 65cm and sleeves at approx. 24” / 62cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
