Engineered Garments Freaks Store cook jacket, made in USA, size M

$39.99 / Sold Out

For sale here is a jacket from Engineered Garments. Designed by Daiki Suzuki and under the umbrella of Japanese company Nepenthes, Engineered Garments manufactures their products exclusively in the United States, and almost entirely in New York City. This particular piece comes from a limited run collaboration between Engineered Garments and Japanese select shop “Freaks Store”. As such, these pieces were only available from Freaks Store in Japan.

As the name of the jacket implies, design inspiration comes from cooking wear. Cook jackets are often in white, while the EG version is here in a navy blue and they have expectedly elevated the design and details. Silhouette follows the traditional cook jacket pretty well, notable for its double breasted closure and high buttons (you can wear it with the buttons configured to your liking). Silhouette is on the slimmer side, especially for more recent EG. Actually all of the Freaks Store collab items fit much more sensibly, nowhere near as relaxed as more recent EG.

Material is 100% cotton and comes pretty light in weight. I would consider this a good spring/summer piece. Front has three pockets, all reinforced on the interior. There is also a pocket on the interior, working cuffs, and the normal array of tags on the inside as well. As you can hopefully see a lot of thought has gone into all aspects of this jacket. Retail was about $400 in Japan, and this design is now completely sold out. Get it here much more reasonably.

Size is labeled a medium and fits true. I measure the chest at 21”, shoulders at 18”, length at 29” from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24” from the shoulder. The piece comes in used, generally good shape. There is some wear and fading to the fabric throughout, including some noticeable wear on the armpits as pictured. Otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in the USA.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
